crash and burn.

some unsettling events happened this past thursday. i was on my computer and set up the posts that you see below. i was done at the time so i closed my computer to let it rest. upon returning to my computer a short time later i found that it was frozen and a weird clicking noise. i just thought that it was something wrong with the programs that i was running at the time so i reset the computer and then when it tried to boot again all i got was the same clicking and this screen:

now last time that i had heard this clicking from a hard drive i took it into the data recovery lab in the byu library only to have them tell me that my hard drive was shot, the data on there was on there but could not be saved unless i spent hundreds to thousands of dollars trying to recover the information, and even then they do not know how much (if any) would actually be recovered. at least this time i had an extended coverage on the computer and took it to the apple store where they promptly switched out the hard drives. i now have the task of remembering everything that i had on my computer to make it back to normal. but there are somethings that i will not be able to restore (like pictures, documents, and other things that i did not back-up on other hard drives). our technology, although it is great, can still fail us. remember to back-up your things that you care about so no matter what happens you will always have it with you.
